The Institute of Insurance Sales Training (IIST) was established on 5th April 2005. Initially IIST operated as a franchisee of the National Insurance Academy, (NIA), Pune, from within the premises of NIA. In 2011, this arrangement was discontinued and IIST continued its operations independent of NIA. In 2013, IIST was placed as a Division of IIST Consulting and Marketing Pvt. Ltd.

In the 20 years since it was established, IIST has trained over 15,000 persons in sales and distribution of all channels of distribution in the life insurance sector. Trainees include, directors, marketing heads, zonal and regional managers, senior divisional managers, area managers, branch managers, assistant branch managers, senior business associates, development officers, chief life insurance advisors, unit managers, agency managers, sales managers, TOT/COT/MDRT agents, Corporate Club and Chairman Club members and other agents.
